Replacement For the Replacement…

Last week was spring break and the first three days of this week was spent recovering from a hacking cough that I’m sure wouldn’t be appreciated in the classroom or anywhere near the teachers lounge.

It’s going to be a light paycheck this month.

Still, I hated to turn down those multiple class offers for Mon/Tues and Wed but that’s one of the “perks”, if you can call it that, of being a substitute teacher.

I don’t have to make arrangements for a replacement in my job since I am one.
(I just reread that last sentence and it sounds a bit circular, doesn’t it?)

And …no assignment for tomorrow as of 08:00pm tonight.

There was about a month earlier this year where I wasn't getting called at all. And if I was, it was very last minute. It was annoying. I like to plan ahead.

I just get calls the night before, or most often, at 6:45am the day of. When I get calls at noon, for same day assignments, I know they're for alternative schools & they've been searching for a sub all day...I turn them down immediately.

I am the same way. I don't like last minute phone calls. I've received phone calls after the school day has already started. ~Jonnie

I just received a call this morning 30 minutes before school started. Normally I get at least an hour. I try not to get frustrated by the late notice calls since it's part of my job to be available. Sometimes it's a hard pill to swallow...
